The Dublin Inner City Partnership (DICP) has a unique role in the promotion of local development in the capital's inner city. The Partnership's aim is to improve the quality of life for the inner city's most deprived communities. It achieves this by promoting community regeneration, tackling educational disadvantage and supporting access to employment and enterprise
Dublin Inner City Partnership co-ordinates, supports and works through a wide range of local groups ranging from residents' committees to local employment services, networks of school principals, community development projects, youth projects and childcare services. It has close working relationships with over two hundred local groups and organisations.
The DICP is committed to supporting residents in disadvantaged communities to help themselves. Self-help and collective action are the most effective and sustainable means of organising deprived communities to secure a better future.
In a range of arenas the DICP advocates for equality for residents in Dublin's Inner City. It argues the case with statutory agencies for equality in access to employment, education and housing for disadvantaged communities.
The Partnership has a strategic approach to deploying resources; it invests in projects which will yield high returns in terms of social benefits and have a lasting impact on local communities.
The Partnership Board is comprised of representatives of local community networks, trade unions and employers, statutory agencies and elected councillors.
